The Making of a Food Film

Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA) film maker Joe York interviewed customers at Taylor Cafe yesterday on the subjects of barbecue and philosophy. York is here in Texas shooting segments for an upcoming SFA movie tentatively titled “Southern Food: The Movie.”

I haven’t been blogging much lately because I’ve spent the last week working with York on getting some tasty bits of Texas on tape. Hopefully, SFA will allow Foodways Texas (FTX) to reuse some of York’s footage for our own upcoming short films and informational videos.

Stay tuned.

Interesting that you’re in Taylor. I was just there last Sat at Mueller’s and got to talk to Wayne Mueller a bit. He’s an interesting guy and grew up in Taylor. After graduating high school, he left town not intending to ever looking back. He has an MBA, had a career in Houston going at an ad agency & had worked for the Rockets. Felt the call home, his father passed, and now he’s running the place and turning out great stuff.

Glad to see Joe York is making his way through Texas now. He just released his film on Scott’s Barbecue here in SC and did a great job with it. I can’t wait to see this one–is it going to be a full length film or a short one like his previous ones?
