That was a beautiful tribute, much appreciated by all of us who lost a good friend when Art died recently. Wish he could have seen it. There’s a big difference between a restauranter who is glad to see a regular customer, and folks like Art and Theresa who are thrilled to see a dear friend that hasn’t stopped by in a while. The food – including a remarkable CFS sandwich and club salads that are uptown quality at 1st Ward prices – is great (note that I’m using present tense; I hope the place lives on) no matter how busy, but it was even more fun to stop in after the rush and shoot the breeze with Art for a while. Such a funny guy… He never would put it on the menu, but every once in a while Art would barbecue a brisket at home and bring it in to give friends samples. Never had better brisket in Houston, if anywhere.
