At an open air market near Prague’s Old Town, I happened on a booth where they were selling “kolacé.”
These big round pastries looked like fruit pizzas. The cherry version was amazing. I guess these are the Old Country version of Texas kolaches.

My dad went to the home of a friend in Croatia several years ago and he heard him ask his wife to pick up “kolach” from the market and she came back with some pastries that were different from Texas kolaches. Apparently it’s a generic term in Slavic languages for sweets or pastries.
