Please excuse the sporadic posting this week–we are off to Oxford Mississippi for the SFA Symposium. By we, I mean me and my daughter Katie Walsh. You might have noticed that the item on this site titled “Will Texas Legalize Bake Sales” wasn’t written by yours truly. The author of that post, Katie Walsh, is my oldest daughter. For the last year or so, Katie has been senior editor at Todo, the multi-cultural newspaper in Austin. After doing some food writing for Todo, she decided she liked it. So I asked her to report about that Austin meeting. I also bought her a ticket to the SFA Symposium.
Katie will be chronicling our drive to Mississippi for Serious Eats and reporting on the SFA Symposium for Eating Our Words. We will link up with her reports here. It’s not exactly Katie’s first brush with food writing. She started reviewing kid’s cookbooks for the Austin Chronicle when she was in elementary school. A couple of summers ago, I hired her to test and write recipes for upcoming cookbooks.
If she can blog as well as she can bake pies, she has a bright future.
She looks very thin. For a baker. 🙂
Have a great trip.
Also saw her article on Serious Eats the other day-good to see her follow in ol’dad’s footsteps!
Jack–I’m working on it ;] After the SFA this weekend, I think I’ve made good progress!
